The Color Grey.
So why the color grey? Well ever since I was little my favorite color has always been grey. For a creative director, having grey as your favorite color isn’t that appealing when others ask what your favorite color is. The usual response is really? grey? really? Why grey when there’s plenty of vibrant and beautiful colors out there to choose from. I could have chosen the color blue like the sky or the color red like a beating heart or the color yellow like a sunflower. But no, I chose grey, grey like what? cement? Cement is grey, but not really helping. So I thought harder about why my favorite color is grey, why do I like a color that’s not so beautiful when you first look at it. I started to think about my life up until now, the highs and lows which form a ripple of waves outlining my life. But without the lows, I wouldn’t have the highs.
I started my own organization back in college to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I was fed up that people weren’t helping out others in need. So I brought over 150 students down to New Orleans to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. After that I spent some time in Ecuador helping children and families in a local village. People helping People, the only way we are ever going to get along in this world.
I got into product design to help better people’s lives. Advertising has always been known for its metaphors to relate consumers to a product or service, but I feel the time has come where advertising is more than just that. It's more about taking that product or service and connecting with the consumers everyday life, improving and enhancing their life. So as I thought about my life up until now, it hit me, that’s it! That’s why my favorite color is grey. My favorite color is grey because it makes any other color stand out when put together. My life evolves around the color grey, whether it comes down to helping others or to working in teams, people helping people.
